The Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (AIAST) is proud to announce the new AgCredited national accreditation program for professionals working in agriculture and natural resource management.

The program has been developed to meet the growing demand from farmers for increasingly higher levels of advice and support from advisors.

AgCredited is based on national industry standards aligned to the national Vocational Education and Training (VET) framework.

To become accredited as an advisor or consultant, candidates need to meet specified national core and specialist competencies. Those who are successful in obtaining accreditation will be entitled to use the AgCredited logo, which will become a symbol for superior professional advice and practice.

The program has the support of Australia's leading agribusiness firms, and representatives from Elders and CRT have participated in its development.

AgCredited will enable professionals working in agriculture and natural resource management to build and maintain the highest possible quality of professional competency and advice to clients.

AgCredited will give Australian farmers the confidence to know who they can trust when they seek help from consultants, researchers, advisors and scientists.

Why get involved?
AgCredited provides the following benefits to participants:
Individuals will be nationally recognised as having the competencies of an effective and responsible professional in their field as a consultant, adviser or specialist
A link with industry-specific competency-based certification programs
A basis for professional development that fits within the Australian Qualifications Framework and focuses on maintaining relevance and building professional capability
Reduced risk and better outcomes for clients and organisations using accredited professionals
Add value for all industry stakeholders by ensuring that accredited personnel are equipped to deliver best practice management support; and
A framework for ongoing professional development, and continued provision of leadership in their respective fields.
Based on an innovative skills recognition process
Skills recognition forms the basis of the AgCredited national accreditation program. Skills Recognition provides the opportunity for practitioners in any field to gain formal recognition of skills and knowledge acquired through experience.

For more information download the pilot program handbook.
The handbook will show you how to have your existing skills and experience formally assessed and recognised as a practising professional in the agriculture, horticulture and natural resource management industry sectors.

By going through the process outlined in the handbook you will have the opportunity to achieve accreditation as a consultant as well as achieving a significant number of units towards a nationally recognised qualification - the Diploma in Rural Business Management (RBM).
